About Me

Where a Thought Turned Into a Life

I’m Reshal Dmello,  a documentary filmmaker, multimedia journalist, and video editor.

This all began with a simple thought: What if I could tell stories that made people feel something real?

Over time, that thought became a habit, a passion, and eventually, my profession.

I didn’t always have the words for it, I just knew I loved capturing moments, noticing silences, and piecing together meaning from everyday life. That instinct led me from Mumbai to the UK, where I’m now pursuing a Master’s in Documentary and Journalism Practice at the University of Sussex.

Along the way, I’ve worked across travel journalism, instructional design, and social impact media. Each project taught me something different, but what stayed constant was the personal nature of my work. For me, filmmaking isn’t technical first; it’s emotional. It’s about connection. I create from the heart.

I’m open to editing reels, films, news features, and all kinds of video content. Whether it’s a 30-second clip or a 30-minute documentary, I care about storytelling that feels honest and intentional.

Going forward, I hope to direct and edit long-form & short-form documentaries/videos/films that hold space for overlooked voices and stories that challenge the way we see the world, not just to inform, but to move people.

This journey didn’t begin with a plan. It began with a feeling. And today, I get to live it, with intention, curiosity, and a camera in hand.

Why I Do What I D0

Because I believe stories can move us, not just emotionally, but socially.

I’m passionate about shaping stories that sit at the intersection of emotion, truth, and visual impact. While many of my projects explore themes like climate, identity, displacement, and resilience, my fascination lies in the entire process of editing and crafting narratives, from raw footage to a story that moves people.

As I move forward, I’m building a body of work that blends journalistic integrity with cinematic storytelling. My goal is to edit and create films, whether they’re personal stories, news features, documentaries, or creative reels,  that don’t just inform, but also invite empathy, curiosity, and reflection.

  • Collaborate on global stories with local impact

  • Use film to amplify underrepresented voices

  • Continue evolving as a storyteller who balances care, courage, and craft

I’m also open to working with small businesses and creative entrepreneurs, helping them build their brand identity through promo videos, visual storytelling, and content that resonates. I love collaborating with passionate people and helping them carve out their space in the market through honest, meaningful media.

This isn’t just a portfolio,  it’s a reflection of who I am becoming.

If you see storytelling as a way to connect, question, and transform, we’ll get along just fine.
